Jim & Jimi first met at a party at which Jim’s band Goin’ South was playing at an event for a mutual friend. They hung out and Jimi may have even sat in with them (memories are best left blurry in some cases).
Fast forward to 2010… Goin’ South was on hiatus and Jim answered an ad in the Illinois Entertainer looking for a guitarist for a band, DeepSIx, that played rock and a little country. When Jim showed up at the audition, they recognized each other from a few years back. Jim passed the audition and they performed together in DeepSix throughout Chicagoland from 2010-2013.
Post DeepSix, they stayed in touch and even did a one-off benefit show at The House of Blues in 2014, as part of Subcool (Cooler than cool… lol)
In late 2019, Jim was performing in an Allman Brothers Tribute, while Jimi was fronting a Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute (he’s the only guy who’s fronted BOTH local Skynyrd Tributes) and they got paired up for a couple shows. By late 2020, amidst the pandemic and after they’d both left those projects, they reconnected and decided to get together to hang out. After a few sessions, they thought things were sounding pretty good and in June of 2021 they made their debut at a backyard party. At that point they had more “possible names” than they did songs… Face For Radio, Get Off My Lawn, My Brothers Keeper and Acoustic Aneurysm to name just a few.
Eventually, they settled on Acoustic Deficit Disorder (A.D.D. for short), and if you’ve been to a show you’ll understand why. While they take great pride in airtight harmonies and instrumentation to emulate any song they play, they aren’t pretentious and don't take themselves too seriously. They have no problem taking a risk on a request or maybe trying out a new song for crowd reaction before the song is ready for public consumption. In that sense, the show is 100% interactive with both guys playing and feeding off the audience and each other, while cracking jokes throughout the performance.
Think of this as the soundtrack for your venue, event or party…. Good tunes, good friends and the pure joy of a heartfelt live acoustic musical experience.
